Celtic next manager latest as Brendan Rodgers to lose trusted lieutenant in battle with Ange Postecoglou

Brendan Rodgers could be set to lose his trusted right-hand man Chris Davies – with Ange Postecoglou reportedly willing to bring him to Tottenham amid Swansea's interest in offering him their soon-to-be-vacant manager role.

Davies has followed Rodgers as his trusted lieutenant throughout his career, starting off as youth team captain at Reading under the Irishman's guidance. His playing career never took off due to injuries, and after various youth roles, he rejoined then-Swansea boss Rodgers in 2010, with his first season resulting in promotion to the Premier League. The duo have been inseparable ever since, moving from Liverpool, then to Celtic under Rodgers after a brief sabbatical.

Assisting in the record 'Invincibles' season amongst a trophy-laden spell, Rodgers and Davies brought about a new level of flair and excitement in Glasgow’s East End, before a move to Leicester disrupted the Hoops flow. But after being sacked by Leicester in April, despite consecutive European campaigns and an FA Cup title, it’s being reported Davies is set to abandon Rodgers – with Postecoglou set to rival Swansea for his signature.

Swans boss Russell Martin is all but on his way to Southampton before the start of the season, which opens up a vacancy as manager at the Liberty Stadium. Davies has been earmarked as the man to replace the former Rangers player and with no compensation to be paid, that could suit the cash-strapped Welsh outfit.
