Celtic loanee admits "I've not hit expectations" amid incredible unbeaten run

Airdrie's Celtic loanee Brody Paterson reckons he hasn't hit the heights he'd hoped for the club - despite the Diamonds being on an 18-game unbeaten run in their pursuit of promotion from League One.

The 20-year-old defender joined the club in January and has yet to taste defeat with the New Broomfield outfit during a number of impressive displays at left-back that have impressed both fans and manager Ian Murray.

However, Paterson insists he sets the bar so high for himself that he feels he still has more to offer as Airdrie look to seal a place in the Championship next season.

A battling 3-2 win over Dumbarton on Saturday showed the spirit in the squad as they stretched their unbeaten run and closed in on the club record of 19 games.

Airdrie are five points behind leaders Cove Rangers with just two games to go, but are already guaranteed a play-off spot.

Asked about his spell at the club so far, Paterson said: "I've not hit the expectations I have for myself so far.

"But this group has got both.

"We've shown that in several games this season. Even when we are not at our best, we carry it through with the right attitude.

"All the boys are feeling good going into the play-offs, if that's what it's going to be for us.

"One eye is on that record because it would be good to get that, but promotion is the main target right now."
