Celtic finish off pre-season with Norwich City win as magic Maeda scores sublime backheel goal

Celtic cruised to a 2-0 friendly win over Norwich City as they now look ahead to the return of Premiership football.

Daizen Maeda got scoring underway with a fantastic backheel finish as Celtic broke up the park, with Josip Juranovic eventually setting him up for a terrific turned goal. David Turnbull - who almost signed for the Canaries prior to his 2020 Hoops move - capped off a fine warm-up routine for boss Ange Postecoglou. He beat two men before slotting calmly into the bottom corner.

The Parkhead club now looks forward to next Sunday when they welcome Aberdeen to Parkhead on title day after their Premiership silverware heroics last season. Postecoglou was pleased with what they got out of their final friendly routine in front of supporters in Glasgow. He told Celtic TV: "I think the victory is important as well. I thought it was a real solid hit out.

"For the most part, we control the game and our possessions good. We kind of worked hard as well defensively to deny them too much.

"It was good to see after those substitutions we didn't see too much of a drop-off. The boys stuck to the job so I think it was a useful hit out for us."

The game also saw debuts for Moritz Jenz and Aaron Mooy after their arrivals at Parkhead during the week.
