There was a fair bit of excitement when the name Ancelotti popped up in connection with the Rangers job.

Joking aside, even though they would deny paying much attention, I’m sure the Ancelotti talk would have been noticed across the city at Celtic.

And they would be well warned to take what’s going on at Ibrox seriously.

It’s party season at Parkhead this weekend and they have the Scottish Cup Final to look forward to next week and the prospect of another Treble.

Listen, we have to look at the bigger picture but there are occasions the players, staff and supporters shouldn’t take for granted.

Trophy Day is something special and they have every right to celebrate their success. It’s been a long, hard season and Celtic have been brilliant for most of it.

You can talk about how bad Rangers have been and the lack of competition.

But Celtic’s relentless consistency has blown them away. Rangers have been under pressure all season because Celtic have put them there.

They’ve been the best side in Scotland by a country mile and have produced some out standing performances, while scoring a barrel load of goals.

We know Brendan Rodgers likes to motivate his teams with other targets and you wouldn’t put it past them hitting the 114 league goals mark set by Ange Postecoglou in 2023 against St Mirren today.

That doesn’t mean everyone can sit back all summer and think everything is hunky dory now.
