Celtic blast Scottish Cup final kick off time after 'unnecessary' switch that fails to address fan issues

Celtic have blasted the Scottish Cup final being moved to a 5:30pm time slot.

The showpiece match in the calendar takes places on June 3rd and the Hoops will meet Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle, looking to tie up a treble with the League Cup already bagged and a Premiership title standing a win against Hearts away. But the contest will not take place in its usual time to avoid a clash with the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United at Wembley.

Fans were left worried when rumours of a lunchtime kick-off circulated but now the Scottish FA have confirmed that it will take place at 5:30pm. But this has infuriated Celtic who say there was no 'meaningful consultation' with them over the process of moving the time. They said in a statement: “We are hugely disappointed that the Scottish Cup Final has been moved from its traditional 3pm slot, something we don’t believe was necessary, or in the best interests of both sets of supporters.

“Additionally, there was no meaningful consultation with Celtic on this matter, in terms of assessing the many issues affecting supporters attending the match - something which is also extremely regrettable.”
