Celtic and Rangers Manager of the Year domination set to end as PFA top boss shortlist revealed

The three-man shortlist for SPFL Manager of the Year has been announced with Kilmarnock's Derek McInnes, Dundee's Tony Docherty and Falkirk's John McGlynn making the cut.

It's well and truly awards season now and Managers and Coaches Association have been voting on the most impressive bosses up and down the four senior men's leagues. McInnes, who has virtually guaranteed Kilmarnock European football, was widely expected to be up there and he's in contention to win the award for the first time since 2014.

Docherty could yet lead Dundee to Europe alongside them after sealing a top six finish and his breakthrough season has been thoroughly impressive after taking over from Gary Bowyer in May. And while it may come as a mild surprise to see no Philippe Clement or Brendan Rodgers in there, Falkirk's McGlynn could hardly be overlooked, given the runaway League One champions are one-game away from completing an undefeated season. They face Alloa this weekend looking to finish the job.

The three contenders mean it will be a non-Old Firm manager winning the trophy for the first time since Steve Clarke in 2019 with Ange Postecoglou winning it two years running after Steven Gerrard. In the SWPL meanwhile, Rangers' Jo Potter, Partick Thistle's Brian Graham and Hibs' Grant Scott are up for the award.
