Celtic: £2m ace could solve 'position Postecoglou wants to strengthen’

Celtic ‘need to strengthen’ at left-back over the summer transfer window amid links to Hammarby’s Mohanad Jeahze, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Hoops have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old in recent weeks as manager Ange Postecoglou looks to make further additions to his first-team squad.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are ‘tracking’ Jeahze ahead of a possible £2 million move when the market reopens for business.

The report states that Polish side Lech Poznan have already had a bid rejected for the Swedish-born Iraq international, whose current contract is set to expire in the winter of 2023.

Hammarby are sitting pretty at the top of the Swedish Allsvenskan table at this moment in time and have helped to turn Jeahze into one of the division’s most exciting talents since snapping him up from domestic rivals Mjallby in 2020.

Since his arrival at the Tele1 Arena, the attack-minded full back has registered two goals and 12 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions, earning praise from his teammates.

“He’s class. Really class right through; there is no better left-back in all of Sweden,” said Darijan Bojanic. “He is better than the left-backs in the national team as well. He is the best.”

O’Rourke believes Postecoglou ‘would ideally like to strengthen’ the left-hand side of his defence ahead of next season after having limited options there this term.
