Castleford Tigers winger Sosaia Feki suffers setback on road to recovery

Sosaia Feki's hellacious injury woe continued this weekend after being forced to withdraw from the club's reserve grade clash. Feki, an NRL champion with Cronulla Sharks, pulled out of the defeat to Leeds Rhinos' reserves in the warm-up.

The winger has played just 19 minutes for the Tigers since his arrival in 2020 due to a glut of serious injuries but is nearing a return to the field as he looks to get his career back on track. However, he hit another snag on Saturday after being pulled minutes before the match. The club say it was a precautionary measure.

Feki was due to play for Featherstone Rovers this weekend after joining the club on an initial two-week loan but wasn't registered in time to feature. Instead, he was put down to play in reserve grade, where he had scored in a 40-minute cameo a week earlier.

He could now make his debut for the Championship side next week when they take on Whitehaven. It's hoped that he will overcome his recent issue and be able to take to the field for the Tigers in the near future.

Feki arrived a Castleford as a major signing in 2020 but has managed just one appearance due to his woeful injury misfortune. He suffered a torn calf in a pre-season game with Toronto Wolfpack and was forced off with a knee injury 19 minutes into his debut that ended his season. He then ruptured his Achilles during the next pre-season and has not played for the first-team since.

The Tigers lost the game 40-34 as Danny Richardson took a step forward in his rehabilitation by featuring in the game after a neck injury.
