Castleford Tigers star Jake Mamo given permission to return to Australia

Castleford Tigers have granted centre Jake Mamo leave to return home to Australia on compassionate grounds.

The enigmatic Aussie star joined Lee Radford’s squad at the end of last season from Super League rivals Warrington Wolves. But he will now miss the Tigers’ next two games – at Wigan on Saturday and away to Toulouse the following Sunday – as he heads back down under.

The club said in a statement: “Castleford Tigers have granted centre Jake Mamo leave to return home to Australia on compassionate grounds.

“Jake will miss the next two Betfred Super League matches against Wigan Warriors on Saturday, 4th June, and the Fords’ away fixture against Toulouse Olympique on Sunday, 12th June. The Tigers would like to send our best wishes to Jake and his family at this time, and we look forward to welcoming him back to Wheldon Road in due course.”

The former Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants man is a new signing at the Jungle this year.
