Carlton Palmer sends Huddersfield Town key player warning ahead of next season

Carlton Palmer believes Huddersfield Town have a good chance of finishing in the play-off places again next season if they're able to keep the bulk of their squad together. Carlos Corberan released six players as their contracts came to an end but have taken up options on Harry Toffolo and Josh Koroma's deals.

Interest in Lewis O'Brien is expected to resurface this summer after an impressive campaign with Town. Leeds United are one of the sides linked with the 23-year-old who played a big part in Huddersfield reaching the final.

Corberan has a good base to build upon next season after guiding Town to a third places finish, but knows the likes of Burnley, Watford and Norwich will be strong contenders for promotion next year. Palmer told Football League World : “If they can retain the players and retain that spirit that they’ve got, I’m sure they can be in the same position as they’re in.

"I mean, unfortunately, the teams that go down, you would expect them to be the strongest teams in the championship next season.

I expect Steve Bruce with the West Brom, he is already moving in the transfer market, and he knows what he’s doing Steve in this league. So you expect West Brom to be there or thereabouts.

“So yeah, if you can keep the players and keep the squad together and add to the squad, you would expect them to be in and around the top four or five again next season.”
