Carlos Tuimavave injured in Hull’s defeat to Catalans

The Black and Whites fell to a 36-8 defeat in Perpignan on Saturday, their seventh defeat of the season.

Head coach Brett Hodgson was disappointed with his side’s performance but was more concerned with Tuimavave’s condition.

Both Adam Swift and Tuimavave were forced from the field during the clash at Stade Brutus.

Hodgson said: “Carlos had to come off with a potential Achilles, we don’t know yet.”

The Hull boss said the full extent of the injury would be revealed after a hospital assessment. But he admitted it would be a hammer blow after losing full-back Jake Connor last week to a knee injury.

It’s more bad news for the side. They will be without key full-back Jake Connor for an extended period of time due to a medial ligament injury.

Hull remain fifth in the Super League table following their back-to-back defeats. Rivals Hull KR just one win behind them in sixth.

Hodgson added: “We’re not at panic stations, we’ve had two performances that weren’t ideal but we’ll roll our sleeves up and go back at it.

“We’re sitting in a position in the table that is okay but we want to win these games and it’s disappointing that we haven’t, but we’ll have plenty of other opportunities as the season rolls out.

“It was very warm, it was excruciatingly warm when we came down here last year and they seem to cope with those conditions better because they train in it and they are used to it.

“But it doesn’t matter what the conditions are, if you don’t build pressure and complete well or have attention to detail in your own play, it doesn’t matter what the conditions are like.”
