Carlos Corberan explains Lewis O’Brien’s absence during Huddersfield Town’s loss at Nottingham Forest

Carlos Corberan has explained that Lewis O’Brien was unable to recover in time from a knock he picked up against Peterborough United, providing a reason as to why he missed out on yesterday’s FA Cup clash against Nottingham Forest, in conversation with Yorkshire Live. 

O’Brien, who has once again emerged as an integral figure for the Terriers this season, has started Huddersfield’s last 34 league games this season, and it would have been highly likely that he would have started last night.

The exciting midfielder was caught just below the knee during Friday night’s 3-0 victory over Peterborough.

Speaking to Yorkshire Live about O’Brien’s absence, Corberan said: “He (O’Brien) didn’t recover well from the previous game. He couldn’t train two days ago, who couldn’t train yesterday, and that’s why he couldn’t arrive to the game.

“Now we need to see how he progresses to see if he is going to be available for the West Bromwich game or not.

“We know he is an important player and that’s why we hope he has a good recovery. At the same time, that’s why it’s important that we add to the levels and minutes to players that can be necessary and important from now to the end of the season too.”

The verdict 

The fact that O’Brien has started every game in the league since the first two explains just how vital he is for the Terriers. 

His ability on the ball has drawn a lot of praise, with his ability to carry the ball and break the lines being two of his more prominent abilities. 

However, he is also exceptional off the ball, as he is someone who reads the game very well and presses with intent and intelligence.
