Cardiff are unbeaten in their last nine league meetings with Barnsley and claimed a narrow 1-0 victory the last time the sides met in south Wales in February 2022. Barnsley, meanwhile, have struggled on their trips to Cardiff in recent years, failing to win any of their last four away league games against the Bluebirds since a dramatic 4-3 victory back in December 2016.

That said, the Bluebirds have lost each of their last three home league games played in midweek, though history suggests they are due a response - they have never lost four consecutive midweek home league matches in their Football League history.
