Cardiff City 7-1 Penybont: Callum Robinson nets brace in convincing friendly win

Callum Robinson enjoyed a starring role as his brace helped Cardiff City swat aside Penybont at Leckwith with a pleasing 7-1 triumph.

The Bluebirds welcomed the Cymru Premier side to the capital for their third friendly of the season and made light work of them, truth be told.

Robinson scored two early goals, both of which were impressive finishes. The first came thanks to a lovely driving run from Callum O'Dowda, who then set him up 20 yards from goal and he rifled it into the top corner.

The second came when teenager Ronan Kpakio skinned his marker and lay a lovely pass into Robinson's path and the forward coolly lifted it over the onrushing Adam Przybek.

And Kpakio, 17, was in the action again just a couple of minutes later when, just past the half-hour mark, he ran rings around his opposite man and found his way to the byline before fizzing a cross across goal. O'Dowda was the obliging recipient and he tapped home from just a yard out. The young right back was doing himself no harm in front of the onlooking Erol Bulut.

Robinson had a golden chance to bag his hat-trick just after the break when a corner was flicked on to him at the far post. His low shot, from close range, was saved well by Przybek low down.

Not long after, though, half-time substitute Raheem Conte, fresh off a contract extension, made it four with a crisp, first-time finish from the edge of the box.

Penybont couldn't live with Cardiff. Another half-time change, Ollie Tanner, did the damage next with some lovely footwork on the right before he pulled a low cross back to the edge of the box, where Kieron Evans was waiting. The winger whipped a low, first-time shot into the bottom corner to make it five.
