Man City transfer truth as clarity provided on midfielder's future
Manchester City will finalise plans for midfielder Jacob Wright when they return home from their pre-season tour.
Wright, 18, made his senior debut last year and has continued to impress Pep Guardiola in the United States as part of the young squad preparing for the new campaign. City are yet to sign cover for Rodri in the position and Wright and fellow youngster Mahamadou Susoho could both offer different options there, while 19-year-old Nico O'Reilly has also been mentioned.
City may decide instead that a loan move is the best option to give Wright a more regular taste of competitive action, although reports of an agreement with Peterborough were not correct. Reports suggested Posh were on the brink of bringing in an unnamed City player on loan, but Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has since confirmed there have been no discussions over Wright.

City defender Callum Doyle is also expected to leave on loan when he returns from the US with a move to Championship side Norwich on the cards, while there will be further movement before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month. The only major arrival for Guardiola this summer, Brazilian winger Savinho, will be welcomed at the Etihad on Sunday in an event for fans.
City play their final match of their summer tour in the States this weekend when they face Chelsea on Saturday night. Kick off is 10.30pm UK time in what is a dress rehearsal for the opening match of the Premier League season.
