Caoimhin Kelleher leaves Celtic transfer door open as Jurgen Klopp offers perfect endorsement to Liverpool star

Caoimhin Kelleher has left the door open for a move to Celtic as the Liverpool goalkeeper admitted he would look at options outside of the Premier League this summer.

And he admits even former boss Jurgen Klopp has told him to find regular game time this summer. With Joe Hart retiring at the end of the campaign Brendan Rodgers is on the look-out for a new No. 1 - with Irish international Kelleher consistently being linked with a move to the Scottish champions. Having acted as Alisson's Anfield understudy in recent seasons, the 25-year-old enjoyed rare run in the starting line-up following an injury to the Brazilian.

After making 26 appearances in all competitions, the Ireland international has openly stated that he wants to be first-choice next season - even if that means leaving Liverpool to find the No. 1 spot. Speaking before Ireland's friendly clash with Hungary, Kelleher revealed that even Klopp urged him to find somewhere he can play regularly before the ex-Reds boss left Anfield.

Kelleher - who was brought through the academy to the first-team by Klopp - said: “He had some nice words for me. I was with him for a number of years and he said ‘You became a brilliant goalkeeper in that time.’ He is going to follow my career wherever I go. He wants to see me playing and to be happy.

"The season I’ve had, I’ve played a lot of games and had that taste this season of being a number one. Whether that’s at Liverpool or elsewhere, that remains to be seen. My main focus at the moment is to be number one.
