Canelo, Usyk, Joshua, Wilder, GGG: 15 best boxers in the world ranked

Canelo Alvarez made it back-to-back wins over Gennady Golovkin last night, four years after their second fight in the exact same venue.

The victory saw Canelo move closer to that 60th career win, currently boasting a 58-2-2 record, putting him right amongst the modern greats.

We have Anthony Joshua set to take on Tyson Fury later this year after the former lost his rematch with Ukrainian, Oleksandr Usyk. So, who is the best fighter in the world currently? BoxRec’s updated list has all the answers.

Jermell Charlo takes 15th, with Britain’s Josh Taylor, Canada’s Artur Beterbiev and American Gervonta Davis with Andy Ruiz Jr ahead of him in 11th.

The Bronze Bomber kicks the top 10 off himself with compatriot Shakur Stevenson ahead of him, with bantamweight star Naoya Inoue in eighth. Errol Spence Jr takes seventh place just behind Joshua, who is the highest Brit on the list.

Whether or not he would be ahead of Tyson Fury is another matter altogether, with his ‘retirement’ stopping him appearing on the list, but he is a heavy favourite when he takes on AJ later this year.

His trilogy of fights with Canelo ended in disappointment, with defeat coming via unanimous decision, it certainly was a night to forget for the Kazakhstani. However, no one else has beaten him or tied with him in his 45 bouts, so he still sneaks into the top five.
