Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua: Deontay Wilder's 'crazy' prediction

Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has delivered his verdict on the much anticipated Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury boxing bout, which has been rumoured to be taking place in December of this year.

Wilder, who lost his title to Fury in 2020, isn’t confident of the Gypsy King’s chances, however, and believes AJ will be the one to stand victorious should the clash go ahead.

“I can see Anthony Joshua beating Tyson Fury,” he said, as tweeted by talkSPORT’s Michael Benson.

“I could really see Joshua winning that fight… I think if he changes something mentally, he could come back and redeem himself.”

Wilder’s comments will come as a bit of a surprise to boxing media and fans alike, as should the fight take place, Fury will be going in as the overwhelming favourite.

Joshua, once heralded as the Next Big Thing in British boxing, has had a tumultuous last few years.

His shocking loss to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019 did irreversible damage to his confidence, and despite him getting a redemption win in the rematch, he hasn’t seemed the same fighter since.

His strange in-ring outburst following his loss to Oleksandr Usyk earlier this year also didn’t help silence his detractors.

Fury, on the other hand, has battered away challengers left, right and centre, maintaining his status as one of the best heavyweight boxers in the history of the sport.
