Cameron Carter Vickers reveals 'crazy' Celtic USA tour moment as he lifts lid on Harry Kane lessons he still carries

He's the quiet man of the Celtic dressing room but Cameron Carter-Vickers learned from Harry Kane that actions often speak louder than words.

The Hoops defender came through his pre-season bow in Saturday’s stunning Chelsea clobbering after being late to the party following his involvement at the Copa America with the USA. Carter-Vickers slotted back without any fuss, and that is generally what you get with the big fella.

The 26-year-old is not the kind of guy to shout and bawl or come out with any bullish chat in the media. But that doesn’t mean he’s not a leader in the Celtic dressing room. Carter-Vickers watched England hero Kane skipper his old club Spurs and it has stood him in good stead as he emerges as one of the generals in the Hoops side. He said: “At Tottenham you obviously had Harry Kane who was a perfect pro. He lived his life perfectly and was dedicated.

“In my position at the time there was Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen. For me at the time maybe they were the best centre-back partnership in the Premier League. That definitely helped. Just watching them every day in training I learnt a lot. On loan as well, there was Luke Chambers at Ipswich who was our captain. I think he’d been at Ipswich for years and he was a real leader. There’s definitely been a few leaders I’ve looked up to.

“You need to take bits and bobs from each – also you’ve got to remember that you are your own person as well. You can’t just copy people. You’ve got to get your own spin on things. For me it’s just about being consistent and hopefully that helps others be consistent as well and they can see that and try and do that as well.”
