Cameron Brannagan starts: The predicted Oxford United XI to face Wigan tonight

Oxford United dispatched Gillingham to a 7-2 scoreline at Priestfield Stadium on Saturday and therefore should be full of confidence ahead of their trip to second placed Wigan Athletic.

The Latics are amongst the favourites for automatic promotion and are six points in front of Karl Robinson’s men despite having played three games fewer.

Wigan took all three points in dramatic fashion in the reverse fixture with James McClean popping up in the 86th minute in mid December.

It is hard to pick any faults in a 7-2 victory, but there are some possible alterations that Robinson will be considering.

Ryan Williams made a positive impact off the bench in the thrashing and could stake a claim to replace Nathan Holland.

While Herbie Kane is available once again after suspension and will provide a dilemma for Robinson in central midfield areas, after Billy Bodin notched his first league goal for the club last time out, playing in the number ten role.

Here, we are predicting an unchanged XI from the one that dismantled the Gills at the weekend…

Yellows retained their two point cushion inside the play-offs on Saturday, with Plymouth Argyle keeping up their own top six pursuit by defeating Doncaster Rovers 3-1 at the Keepmoat Stadium.

A victory at the DW Stadium would see Oxford leap into fourth place on goal difference, and in turn see Wycombe Wanderers fall to sixth place, even though the Chairboys were sitting top of the tree a matter of weeks ago.

Wigan were held to a goalless draw at Cheltenham Town on Saturday, Oxford certainly had the stronger weekend which sets this match up nicely between two sides believing they can earn the win, hopefully it lives up to the billing and the entertainment value of the reverse fixture.
