Karl Robinson comment inspired Bolton Wanderers to Oxford United win as Burton Albion previewed

Ian Evatt revealed that a comment from Oxford United counterpart Karl Robinson inspired Bolton Wanderers to success as they will not be underestimating Burton Albion tomorrow.

Wanderers travel to the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow evening to take on the Brewers and attempt to extend their unbeaten run in League One to eight matches.

Bolton made that tally seven over the weekend with a big 3-2 win on the road over Oxford United, coming from behind twice to pick up three points courtesy of goals from Declan John, Marlon Fossey and Amadou Bakayoko.

And Evatt revealed that Robinson commented to one of the Wanderers staff that they would not be able to repeat their style of play as they did in League Two last season on the road to promotion, but all that did was inspire Bolton to success.

He said: "I just think if you look throughout the league, there are always strange results. Doncaster went to Sunderland and won, they went to MK (Dons) and won. It’s a challenging division and it throws you different games at all times.

"Funnily enough, Karl (Robinson) said to one of our staff on Saturday, ‘this isn’t League Two, it’s not like you can do the same as what you did last year’.

"We use that as motivation to our players and hopefully now we can go on an amazing run. But we’re not getting overconfident – there are lots of hard work to go, 15 big games, and we are going to do the best we can to get as close as we can."

Wanderers are currently in the midst of a busy schedule with eight games across the course of February and a relentless Saturday-Tuesday fixture list.
