Cambuslang Rangers' Irvine Meadow win was even better than it looked, says co-boss
Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Billy Campbell says their 4-3 win over 10-man Irvine Meadow was more convincing than the scoreline suggests, with their hosts grabbing a third goal deep into stoppage time.
The win gives Camby hope of beating the drop from the West of Scotland Premier League, and leaves them three points behind fourth-bottom Troon, who they host this weekend.
Campbell says the win at Meadow Park was well deserved, with a double from Scott Anson, and strikes from Robbie Leighton and Grant Brennan.
Anson’s second goal came from the spot after Medda defender Bryan Wharton was sent off.
Campbell said: “I was pleased. We did well, played well, thoroughly deserved to win.
“It was a good wee game, but I think overall we deserved our win – I think they got back their third goal four minutes over time, so it maybe looked like it was really tight.
“The boys did well, scored a good first goal through Scott Anson, and there were some exceptional performances again from young Robbie and wee Grant.
“The central midfield were working hard, as was the defence, and we really can’t complain to come off, once again, with a 4-3 win.
“That’s a couple on the bounce now and we’re showing that we can fight our corner.
“We’ve got Troon this weekend so that’s another massive game coming. We need to try and see if we can get something from that, to stop them pulling away from us.
“I think they’re a game ahead as well, so we don’t want to be losing anything there.”
Campbell says nobody will get an easy game against Cambuslang, as several clubs have found this season.
He added: “I don’t know what the perception of Cambuslang coming to anyone’s ground is now, with regards to how easy or hard it is to play us, but with the exception of one
