Calvin Ramsay tipped for Liverpool key role as former Anfield star predicts Klopp tweak

Jurgen Klopp’s new tactical may allow Scotland international Calvin Ramsay to partner Andrew Robertson as Liverpool’s new full-back pairing.

The Anfield side are enjoying a resurgence with eight games unbeaten in their last ten league fixtures and six wins on the spin setting them up for a late charge for a Champions League spot. At the heart of this turn in form has been the new freedom given to Trent Alexander-Arnold to pivot into the centre of the pitch and play as more of a playmaking midfielder despite still lining up as a full-back.

Many have often thought that the England player would suit a midfield role given his defensive frailties at times but that Klopp would need to find a suitable defensive replacement to allow Alexander-Arnold to occupy a role in the middle of the park on a full-time basis. He said: "It's an interesting hybrid system, but it often leaves Konate exposed in that right full-back role. So it's whether Jurgen Klopp wants to continue that, or whether he wants to move Trent Alexander-Arnold into midfield permanently and sign a new right-back.

"Or potentially promote Calvin Ramsay once he's fit next season."
