Calvin Bassey 'wants' Fulham transfer as ex Rangers star reluctantly prepares to end Ajax adventure

Rangers are set to miss out on a sell-on clause for Calvin Bassey as Ajax begin to prepare for life without the Nigerian international.

The Dutch giants bought the defender from Ibrox last summer in a club-record deal for the Premiership outfit, after a deal of €22m guaranteed (£19m) price plus a further €5m in potential add-ons was negotiated. But a sell-on of 10% would only be activated in future sales if Bassey was to be sold for more than that amount, which appears slim.

De Telegraaf claim 'Ajax considers it increasingly unlikely that Calvin Bassey will also play in Amsterdam next season' and that 'Fulham is the most concretely interested club and would eventually be willing to pay an amount of €20 million (£17.3m) for him.' The Premier League club would also be able to offer the former Rangers man 'considerably more' in terms of wages when compared to his current Ajax package.

Rangers are ready for glory as they take aim at Scottish football’s biggest prizes.

Michael Beale and his new-look Light Blues have their heart set on winning back the title and a shot at glory in the Champions League. Beale’s boys will be rubbing shoulders with the best in Europe and chasing the dream in Scotland as they try to win domestic honours. And the Daily Record have produced a stunning new souvenir guide to Rangers.

This unmissable guide is bursting with info for the campaign to come including exclusive columns from Barry Ferguson and Keith Jackson, fabulous features on super skipper James Tavernier, fan favourite Todd Cantwell and boss Beale.
