Callum McGregor trolls England as Celtic captain seizes on jab by Scotland pal with smirking one liner

England have taking a bit of a kicking after their drab draw with Denmark and their unconvincing start to their Euro 2024 campaign - and Scotland skipper Callum McGregor couldn't resist a jab over their heartache at the last tournament three years ago.

Graeme Souness took a swipe at midfielder McGregor following his performance against Germany - but the 31-year-old grasped redemption with an assist and a stand-out performance in the matchday two draw with Switzerland. And Steve Clarke's men are now focussing on the clash with Hungary - with a win all-but guaranteeing Scotland a spot in knockout rounds for the first time.

But in the build-up to the Stuttgart showdown, McGregor was put on the spot alongside fellow Scotland star Ryan Christie by UEFA TV - with players from all competing nations being put under the microscope over their knowledge during a Euro 2024 quiz. The former Celtic teammates were brought back to England's defeat in the Euro 2020 to Italy - and the pair didn't need an invitation to stick the boot in.

The host asked who had not won the European Championships previously - Germany, England, Netherlands or France. The Celtic captain was quick to respond stating: "Ah, England. It's England." Christie added: "Aye, it's England."

The off-camera interviewer responded: "That is correct. Losing finalists in Euro 2020 but have never won." Christie chimed in to set up his pal: "Ah, close". After that, McGregor couldn't resist a dig adding: "That was a shame."
