Callum McGregor reveals Kris Boyd Celtic truce over comments but skipper admits it 'doesn't make great reading'

Callum McGregor says he's happy to let bygones be bygones with Kris Boyd after the club called out the pundit's controversial comments on the Celtic skipper.

But he does admit Boyd's remark about his face mask "doesn't make great reading".

Celtic announced they were "addressing" claims made by Boyd after he claimed Rangers players should have been "testing out" his protective mask in last week's derby.

Boyd has since attempted to clarify – insisting he was not encouraging anyone to hurt the Celtic captain.

And McGregor has now revealed the pundit reached out to him directly to put the matter to bed.

McGregor said: “When you read it at first it doesn’t make great reading, I think everybody can see that.

"You look at the comments and think 'that's not great'. But since then he has reached out, we’ve a chat about it and we’ll move on.

"(What was said) will stay between me and him but we'll move on, we want to concentrate on the football.

“He's realised it’s a poor choice of words in that sense and we put it to bed now."
