Cadwell BSB: O’Halloran and Mackenzie vow to regroup

Jason O’Halloran and Tarran Mackenzie are turning their attentions towards the next British Superbike Championship round at Snetterton after an unusually out-of-sorts weekend for the McAMS Yamaha team at Cadwell Park.

The dominant force in recent rounds, O’Halloran and Mackenzie came to the Louth venue having clinched ten of the last eleven race wins between them.

However, at Cadwell Park neither rider proved particularly competitive with O’Halloran failing to make the podium for the first time since Oulton Park’s second round, in fourth, eighth and ninth, while Mackenzie fared even worse with his two eleventh and tenth place results.

Having already booked his place in the Showdown, though O’Halloran has lost the championship lead to Bradley Ray, he remains ahead of his rival in the more important podium credits ranking by two points.

“It’s been a difficult weekend for us,’ the Australian admitted. “It was bound to come at some point as we’ve had a really good run of wins and podiums and a lot of tracks we’ve been to we’ve been super strong.

“We came here and it’s just not gone our way.

“We’ll have to look at what happened as in both races today I had issues with the rear tyre and that’s not something we usually have issues with, so we’ll look into it, see what we can find and come out stronger at Snetterton where we had a good test earlier this year.”

Returning to the scene of last season’s massive accident - when his Yamaha vaulted the barriers at Barn - Mackenzie’s weekend was ultimately hampered by poor qualifying positions, the legacy of starting down the order in Superpole and then getting bottled up in traffic to prevent him from getting a quick grid-deciding racing lap.
