Busy time for Dalbeattie Running Club members includes Buckland Burn Up and Guid Nychburris 5k

It’s been a busy time for club members. The Buckland Burn runners competed in fine weather with some excellent results – Ally Wight got back to his best and Callum Dunn had a great run out.

Hamish Campbell and Joe Boardman battled it out up the last hill whilst Calvin and Po-Yee Ho once again had a great family battle.

Maggie Young, who joined the beginners group in January, made her debut appearance at Carlingwark Park run in June and celebrated her success with a smile. It’s great to see the progress of the newbies this year and she is now a regular at training.

Meanwhile Fran Drummond and Nicole Weymouth travelled over to Lockerbie for their Gala 5km race organised by ADAC. The course was undulating but set in lovely countryside and the medal and the post race refreshments were worth the effort.

Simone and Pauline travelled down to the Coniston trail race in the Lake District and successfully completed the event. This was a really tough event but set in stunning countryside.

Dumfries Guid Nychburris 5km saw a huge turnout for the club with many PBs and excellent times being posted by members.

Kieran Sullivan was first home for the club and had a great battle to pip Guy Wight with Ally Ashton coming home third. The ever improving Rebecca Dunn was first lady home followed by Fran Drummond and Nicole Weymouth.

There were so many good performances at this well run event, and it is hoped this will be a regular race in the club calendar.

James Eccles completed his first run at the Watchtree 10km race gaining a medal and a lot of experience along the way.

Karen McKillop took on the most northerly 10km on Orkney at Birsay completing the course with ease.
