Bus driver arrested after cyclist suffers life-threatening injuries in smash

A cyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries after a horror crash with a bus and a taxi outside Manchester city centre. Officers were called out to the junction of Booth Street East and Oxford Road, near the city's universities, at around 10.20pm last night (August 18).

Greater Manchester Police says it followed reports of a collision involving a pedal bike, a taxi and a bus. North West Ambulance Service attended and the cyclist, a 20-year-old man, was rushed to hospital.

The bus driver was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has since been released under investigation while police continue with their enquiries.
