Bury explosion latest: New statements issued as three homes to be demolished

An investigation into an explosion at a house in Bury is continuing this morning - with emergency services and Cadent gas working to determine the cause.

The major blast ripped through a terraced home on Nelson Street in the Fishpool area yesterday (Wednesday). A woman - aged in her 70s - was rushed to hospital in a serious condition, while a number of terrified neighbours fled their homes.

A huge cordon was put in place around the street with several homes and a local school evacuated. Pictures taken on the scene this morning showed the front of the house involved in the blast left obliterated, with its windows blown out and most of the roof left collapsed.
