Manchester United transfer news live Everton reaction and latest injury news

Manchester United got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday, beating Everton 2-0 at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford each dispatched first half penalties to help the Reds seal a hard-fought victory. Everton registered north of 20 shots, meaning United had to work hard to secure all three points.

The win moved United back to within eight points of the top-four, though that gap would have increased back to 11 had Aston Villa beaten Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park 24 hours later. Sunday's tussle between the two aforementioned clubs finished 4-0 in Spurs' favour.

Spurs are now hot on Villa's heels, finding themselves just two points behind Unai Emery's men in the final Champions League berth. United are currently six points behind the Londoners.

However, United will put their top four hopes aside this week and switch their focus Sunday's mouth-watering FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool at Old Trafford. The competition represents the Reds' last chance to win a trophy this season.

The 19-year-old is rated as one of the best prospects in the world. United have been linked before but Benfica ribbished the rumours. They may look again at the midfielder this summer.
