Bury 10k road closures with thousands to take part in charity run next weekend

A number of road closures will be in place next weekend in a Greater Manchester borough as one of the region's best-loved charity charity events returns.

On Sunday, 15 September, charity road run, the Bury Bid 10k, will see thousands of fun-runners, fundraisers and club runners take to the streets of Bury. The popular race is for participants of all abilities and encompasses a 10k race and Bury Mini and Junior runs.

The event is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for a number of good causes including the event’s official partner charities: the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Creating Lives Centre, BACKUP North West and Jigsaw Bury.

Organised in conjunction with Bury Council, event organisers Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All are now advising runners, spectators, residents and visitors that a number of the city’s roads will be closed or have access restricted to ensure the safety of all those taking part.

The event will require the closure of roads and road junctions as well as the suspension of a number of Traffic Regulation Orders between 8:30am on Sunday 15, September and 12:30pm on Sunday 15 September 2024. There will also be a number of parking suspensions in place from 7am on Saturday, 14 September to 3pm on Sunday, 15 September.

Bury 10k officially starts at 9.30am outside the Rock Shopping Centre. The route will take runners out of the town centre, along Tottington Road and Bury Road, turning on Market Street before heading onto the Kirklees Trail Path.

The course will then loop back to the town centre via Brandlesholme Road, Woodhill Road, Castlecroft Road and Bolton Street before runners cross the finish
