Burnley transfer state as Kompany gives thoughts amid striker links and Taylor speculation

Vincent Kompany would like to see more arrivals at Turf Moor in the final days of the transfer window.

The Clarets have been busy this summer the Burnley boss feels there is more to be done in the market ahead of deadline day on September 1. The club's summer overhaul now stands at 12 arrivals and 13 departures following the capture of Darko Churlinov on Friday.

The Clarets would like to add another senior striker to provide competition for Jay Rodriguez and Ashley Barnes but the plethora of forward arrivals, plus the chance to play Scott Twine further forward, means Burnley won't be paying over the odds for a central attacker. They have attempted to bring one in this window but have so far been thwarted in their efforts.

Links emerged on Sunday with a move for Metz forward Georges Mikautadze with a report that Burney have offered £5million for the 21-year-old, who has spent the last two seasons on loan in the Belgian second tier. Asked about further business by Lancs Live, Kompany said: "We will see. As long as it makes sense for the club long term, I think it is something to look at."

Burnley are well stocked in midfield with several players capable of filling various roles but Kompany would like to add another experienced centre back to the ranks. The Clarets pursued a move for Liverpool's Sepp van den Berg and remain in the market for a defender between now and September 1.

That places a question mark over the long-term future of Charlie Taylor, who has been linked with a move to West Ham. The 28-year-old is currently playing at centre back and the Clarets have no interest in parting with any of their regular starters. While Taylor could lose his place should a new signing arrive, Burnley would not want to sanction
