Bruno Lage reveals Willy Boly plan ahead of Everton vs Wolves

Bruno Lage plans to assess Willy Boly and Jonny Castro Otto in training before deciding whether to start the defensive duo at Everton.

Wolves have another quick turnaround in Premier League fixtures with a trip to Goodison Park coming three days after the 4-0 win over Watford at Molineux.

Boly and Jonny made their first Premier League starts of the season against Watford after recently returning from lengthy injury absences.

Ordinarily, Boly and Jonny would keep their places in the starting line-up, but Lage isn’t willing to risk a relapse for either player and plans to bide his time before making a decision.

“That’s the question and I cannot answer it now because I don’t know,” Lage said after the game on Thursday. “We need to wait. I will ask the players how they feel and then take the decision.

“One I gave him a rest, 15 minutes, and the other one no. The rhythm of the game was OK, we controlled it, so we need to see.

“Now they are there, they are excited, it’s the day after when you feel all the pains. Let’s see how they recover.”

Max Kilman is the obvious replacement for Boly after the England hopeful dropped out of the starting XI for the first time this season.

Due to injuries to Nelson Semedo and Ki-Jana Hoever, Lage doesn’t currently have an experienced alternative to Jonny at right wing-back, with Chiquinho fielded there in the closing stages of the Watford win.

Wolves trained on Friday and they will again today, although the sessions will be more focused on recovery and analysis of Everton’s strengths and weaknesses rather than anything too strenuous.

The last time Wolves played on Thursday before a Sunday game, Lage made five changes for the second fixture.
