Bruno Fernandes reveals why Casemiro jokes with him about his weight at Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes revealed that Casemiro jokes with him that the Portuguese can play every game for Manchester United owing to his slender weight as he shed light on what is behind his fitness levels.

Fernandes has been a regular for United since joining from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020. He is closing in on 200 appearances for United and has found the back of the net more than 60 times for the Old Trafford side.

The 28-year-old is set to make his 59th appearance for United this season alone this afternoon. United are seeking FA Cup glory in the Wembley final against Manchester City.

Fernandes takes pride in his fitness and even revealed his wife Ana looks after their children at times so the midfielder himself can take naps to rest and recover between games and training sessions. He believes that is key to staying in the best shape possible.

He also credits the upbringing from his parents in ensuring he was always fit enough to play football. And he revealed that Brazilian team-mate Casemiro even jokes with him about his weight being behind his ability to play so regularly.

He told ESPN: "I like to get my nap time and my wife respects that and takes care of the kids for that hour and a half, an hour, so I can have that more rest. Because I think that's important for me to keep me fit, in the best shape possible.

"I think it's all those bits together, and obviously the way my mum and dad made me. They made sure that I was always fit and fit enough to play football.

"Sometimes even Casemiro is joking with me and says, 'You know, you just run for every game and you can play every game because your weight is nothing, that's why.'"
