Bruno Fernandes names toughest Premier League players he's faced at Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes has identified N'Golo Kante, Rodri and Declan Rice as the toughest opponents he has faced in the Premier League.

Fernandes is about to enter his fifth season in England with Manchester United after signing from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020. The Portugal international has become an integral part of the midfield at Old Trafford, particularly under Erik ten Hag for who he has been ever-present.

He played 59 games across all competitions last season, wearing the armband for most with Harry Maguire often benched. And Ten Hag has now named his midfielder as permanent captain for the upcoming campaign.

During his three-and-a-half seasons in the Premier League, Fernandes has come up against his fair share of world-class defensive midfielders. And the 28-year-old has picked out his three hardest opponents, admitting it is a privilege to play at such a high level every week.

"In the Premier League you play against top players," Fernandes told Sky Sports' Saturday Social. "Kante was difficult, Rodri was difficult, Declan Rice was really difficult.

"Declan and Rodri were physically very similar, Kante more small but quick and sharp. But there are many players because we play in the best league in the world so you get to play against the best players."

Fernandes will lead his United side out as the club captain for the first time when United host Wolves at Old Trafford on Monday.
