Alejandro Garnacho is facing another major hurdle to clear in his young Manchester United career - but he has form for overcoming such challenges.

Garnacho, 19, has the footballing world at his feet but the Premier League opener against Wolves - in which he was handed a start by Erik ten Hag - threw up another obstacle for the fleet-footed prospect.

To coin a much-loved pundit with affiliation to the blue side in this famous football city, Garnacho 'burst on to the scene' last season in what was a breakthrough campaign. It was a campaign that brought him a number of firsts including a maiden start, goal and senior international cap for Argentina.

For better or worse, he was denied more nurturing time alongside his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, but other key figures within the United dressing room kept him firmly on-track. Bruno Fernandes stood up front and centre in that regard, underlining his leadership credentials which subsequently, led to a promotion this summer.

Reflecting on his first senior goal for United against Real Sociedad last season, Fernandes made a shock revelation about Garnacho that, ordinally, might have been consigned to the in-house walls at Carrington. Ultimately, though, his public dressing down might just have planted a seed.
