Bruno Fernandes makes trophy pledge to Manchester United fans

Manchester United attacking-midfielder Bruno Fernandes is planning to give the club's supporters "more joy" as he continues to search for his first major honour since joining the club.

Fernandes joined United from Portuguese heavyweights Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 and has cemented himself as one of the club's best signings in recent years, scoring 48 goals and grabbing 37 assists in 112 games in all competitions so far.

The Portugal international became an instant fans' favourite at Old Trafford, scoring 12 goals between his arrival at the club and the end of the 2019/20 campaign in June.

Fernandes carried that form into last season, scoring 28 goals and registering 17 assists in 58 appearances in all competitions.

Despite his excellence, however, United have not been able to end their trophy drought since he joined the club. Fernandes, though, is planning on changing that.

"Thank you for your support, I really appreciate everything done from you since I came to the club," Fernandes told United's club website, issuing a message to the fans.

"I hope to get more joy for you and bring trophies to the club."

Since joining the club a little over two years ago, Fernandes has experienced playing with a wealth of talent, including current stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane, amongst others.

However, it is United veteran Juan Mata that he has the closest friendship with.

"I would probably choose [Mata] because I learn a lot from him in this two years," Fernandes added when asked who is best friend within the squad is.

"He’s been someone who's been really special and make me better every day, on and off the pitch. He made me grow up to be a better player and a better person also."
