Bridgerton star completely unrecognisable as she takes on new role away from Netflix show

Bridgerton's Bessie Carter is almost unrecognisable in new snaps from her upcoming role in UKTV's Outrageous. The actress, who gained fame for her portrayal of Prudence Featherington in the Netflix hit, will be playing one of six aristocratic sisters from the 1930s in the TV drama.

The 30-year-old has a history with period dramas, having previously starred as Evie Wilcox in BBC's 2017 adaptation of Howards End and Violet Woodhouse on ITV's Beecham House in 2019.

She's now set to take on the role of Nancy Mitford in a six-part series about the Mitford sisters, based on Mary Lovell's definitive biography, The Mitford Girls.

Netflix viewers are used to seeing Bessie as the flamboyantly dressed Prudence Featherington, with her tight red curls styled in an elaborate updo. She's often seen in bright greens, pinks and oranges alongside her sister Philippa (Harriet Cains).

However, new photos from the filming of Outrageous show the actress smiling and in character, sporting a short, tight, curly bob - a classic cut from the 1930s.

She's also pictured wearing a dark green velvet coat with a high neckline and a bright red lip, holding the clapperboard ahead of filming.

Firebird Pictures' new drama Outrageous is set to bring the scandalous lives of the six Mitford sisters to our screens, depicting their refusal to conform to the expectations of British high society.

The series promises to immerse viewers in the lavish and rebellious world of the Mitford sisters, dealing with their family drama, public scandals, political radicalism
