Brendan Rodgers told by raging Celtic diehards how worried they really are as they reveal deepest fears – Hotline

Brendan Rodgers is bang in the Hotline firing line.

The failure to defeat St Johnstone having gone out of the Viaplay Cup to Kilmarnock has caused great angst amongst some of today's correspondents. Celtic haven’t scored in those two games and, as they hunt the transfer market for new stars, Rodgers is facing flak. Arrin Geddes, Irvine, said: “On 15th June, I emailed that Rodgers would not have been in my top 10 appointments. After 180 awful minutes against Kille and St Johnstone, he’s got five days to pull some rabbits out of the hat on the training ground and transfer market. In the space of three months, he’s emptied this team of its confidence, ability and identity. He doesn’t have long!”

William Hutchison, Aberdeen, said: “I was willing to give Brendan the benefit of doubt when he came back, but his system is not working. A lot of players were so used to Ange's style of play and players can’t seem to adjust to it. They better get it right quick. The way things are, we are going to get slaughtered at Ibrox and in Champions League games.”

Gerard Kelly emailed: “That performance at home clearly shows there is no fire in that team. Brendan’s has come in and just totally messed up a good system.

“So either he changes his tactics or I think Celtic need to let him go and get a manager that plays with style. I can’t see Celtic winning anything playing like that. Get Marco Rose in.”

David Bryce, Troon, said: “What an absolute disgrace. In fairness he’s had zero backing from a disgrace of a board, but for £3m per season, he’s got to beat St Johnstone at home no matter what players he has at his disposal. Utterly clueless. I hope he resigns after we get hammered at Ibrox as he should never have been brought back to the club.”
