Brendan Rodgers risks Celtic facing Champions League bloodbath if his Parkhead power statements don't turn reality

The devil might make work for idle hands but in football it’s the agents that end up working overtime when their clients get twitchy fingers.

When a player goes public with a huff, they better have the Uber app near the social media one, because the chances are they will be needing a lift to the airport. Which is Celtic's Sead Haksabanovic's next likely destination after his cryptic quotes at the weekend. He posted a picture of him looking sad with the phrase, "If they don't see your value maybe you're not at the right place.”

Only he knows where it was aimed. Was it at his manager who sees him a no more than a bench warmer? Or was it at the angry fans booing at the end of Saturday’s St Johnstone snoozefest? It doesn’t really matter. Haksabanovic has only showed flashes his value under two Celtic bosses now and Parkhead is probably not the right place for him. The exit door awaits – but it’s who is coming in the other way is all that matters to Hoops punters right now.

Haksabanovic has had long enough to prove himself in these parts but coming back from the summer with a fancy new hairdo and big promises about filling the Jota void didn’t translate to a hill of beans.

And now he’s just another minor annoyance amid a pile of problems that have quickly piled up for Brendan Rodgers. It’s really quite remarkable how Celtic have got themselves into such a fankle this summer.
