Brendan Rodgers has Celtic ready to 'attack with everything we've got' as boss' 'evolution' takes Parkhead by storm

John Kennedy insists he has no regrets sticking at Celtic with Brendan Rodgers rather than following Ange Postecoglou to Spurs. And he reckons an "evolved" Rodgers has the club ready to give it their all in the title race.

The Hoops No.2 admitted he had a tough dilemma over the summer for former boss Postecoglou wanting to take him to London and incoming gaffer Rodgers desperate to keep him at Parkhead. Kennedy eventually opted to remain and hook up with the Irishman again – and he’s convinced Rodgers can bring more glory and help him on his path towards one day moving into management on his own.

He said: “It wasn’t so much the decision was made for me. It was an open conversation throughout that time. It probably came a bit out of the blue. Things moved very quickly with Ange deciding to move on.

“When it first happened I had a conversion with Ange about it. At that time Celtic didn’t have a clear indication on who was going go be the next manager. There was a lack of clarity on one side. It was about being patient and seeing how things panned out. Then quickly after that things started happening with Brendan.

“From then on, knowing Brendan really well, we had a really good discussion around things and talked about what he wanted to move things forward. In his time away we always stayed in touch and occasionally met for dinner.

“I had a great working relationship with him. I spoke to the club about this and we kind of made the decision that we’d work together and try to progress things from where it’s been. So there have been no issues. I have a great relationship with Ange, I still have. I had a great relationship with Brendan and now he’s back and we’re working very closely together again.
