Brendan Rodgers given Jamie Vardy injury boost ahead of Leicester City vs Aston Villa

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that striker Jamie Vardy will re-join training today (Thursday).

The striker has been out of the side for several weeks after suffering with a knee problem, which Rodgers now hopes will have been put to bed.

Vardy has been working hard with the medical team at the club's training ground after experiencing pain in his knee while striking the ball, though running has not been a problem. The former England striker finished his last course of injections last Tuesday and posted a video clip of himself sprinting at the training ground on social media platform Instagram yesterday.

Speaking after his side's 1-1 draw with Everton, Rodgers gave a promising update on his star striker. "He's looking good," Rodgers said. "He's joining the squad tomorrow (Thursday) for training, which is great news for us. He gives us that extra dimension at the top end of the field."

It is understood that this Saturday's game at home to Aston Villa for Vardy, though the striker can still have a large part to play in the closing games of the season. There is, of course, the huge Europa Conference League semi-final matches against Roma coming up, while City still have seven Premier League games to play.

After the match against Villa, attentions turn to Roma - with a difficult trip to Tottenham Hotspur sandwiched in between. Then there are games against Everton (H), Norwich City (H), Watford (A), Chelsea (A) and Southampton (H) to see out the Premier League campaign.
