Brendan Rodgers full of praise for one Celtic star as he pinpoints downside to overall 'very good' win over Hibs
Brendan Rodgers has hailed Celtic's win over Hibs as 'very good' but named the ONE down side to the champions' display.
The runaway Premiership leaders - who extended their lead over Aberdeen at the top after their dropped points at home to St Johnstone - grabbed a three goal win over David Gray's side. However, the visitors did have a number of big chances to make the scoreline different with Kasper Schmeichel producing for his side when called upon. His Hoops gaffer picked his veteran No1 out for praise for those stops with Arne Engels, a Joe Newell own goal and Kyogo Furuhashi's late strike bagging all three points in a 3-0 win.
Speaking to BBC Sportsound, Rodgers said: "The win was very good on the back of a midweek game away to Aberdeen. The changes we made it was a fantastic win. Some of our attacking play was excellent. We scored three goals and their goalkeeper also made some really good saves.
"Our downside for today was our pressing. It was nowhere near what I would want or expect it to be. Sometimes that can happen when you made the changes and plus having the midweek game.
"That then gave them opportunities but thankfully I have a top, top international goalkeeper who when we needed him made saves. We could have scored more goals also but overall the win was very, very good."
Next up for Celtic is a massive Champions League away day at Dinamo Zagreb. The Hoops sit on eight points after five games and can breach that magic projected 10 point number in their quest to reach the next stage.
Asked about the game on Tuesday, Rodgers admitted his side are showing up well at Europe's top table but they still have plenty of work to do to meet the minimum target they set themselves in before the new league phase got
