Brendan Rodgers' Celtic bull won't be bought as hardline Hotliners makes stay away Parkhead pledge

Celtic's hunt for a manager continues to be the No.1 topic on the Hotline.

The Parkhead club are sourcing a replacement for Ange Postecoglou after his exit to Spurs. Former boss Brendan Rodgers is among the names in the frame and the prospect of the Irishman returning to the club has brought strong comment. Hugh McInulty, Glasgow, said: “Rodgers jumped ship from the club he’d 'always supported' to join a mid-table Premier League team last time. Tried to take all the backroom staff with him. I don’t believe a word that comes out of that man’s mouth. If he’s the new manager I won’t be back until he’s gone.”

On the flip side, David Bryce, Troon, said: “The Celtic board must do everything in their power to appoint Rodgers as manager. Kjetil Knutsen is my No.1 choice. However I don’t think he wants the job. The football we played under Ange was stale for months and Rodgers is the man to reinvigorate us and make a mark in Europe.”

Martin Baird, Glasgow, took a different tact and said: “Can Celtic fans stoop as low as to accepting Rodgers back after criticising his authenticity, honesty and character, and by giving him a constant tirade of abuse and mockery of his failures since he left? Add that to his uninspiring recent managerial record and why is he even being considered?”

Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill, said: “While more and more players sign up for Rangers, it seems Celtic will have to ring fence Celtic Park in an attempt to stop more of their staff from doing a runner. After all the big names have distanced themselves from the manager’s job, we are now having to Google the names now.”
