The volunteers helped clear the pitch to pace the way to victory against Georgia while the big defender helped mop up at the back in the winning double header.

He could easily walk into either one of the Old Firm sides. These unseen people give up their time without looking for any financial gain and I hope that everyone, from the SFA to the supporters and players, recognise their efforts. Well done to each and every one of them.”
John Kirkwood emailed: “Billy Thomson should get his facts right – it was UEFA that told them to continue, not the SFA.” But doom merchant Danny McLean, Glasgow, said: “I had to laugh at Stephen Johnstone’s Hotline call about the Group of Death including Cyprus, Georgia and Norway. I don’t think so. Plus that game should have been abandoned.”
