BREAKING: Police cordon in place and forensics on scene after knife recovered near where man was stabbed to death

Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man in south Manchester have recovered a knife just minutes away from where he was killed. Greater Manchester Police say it is not yet known whether this is connected to the stabbing.

A police cordon is in place on the corner of Staycott Street and Raby Street in Moss Side less than 24 hours after the shocking incident, with forensics and armed officers on the scene. Fire crews have been seen cutting through a set of gates, with officers in white forensic suits entering the property.

A manhunt remains underway after the victim was stabbed to death on Moss Lane East just after 8pm on Wednesday (October 25) following a 'disturbance'. His friend alerted the emergency services, while two other men involved in the incident fled the scene in a car. No arrests have been made.

Two women who said they knew the victim, who has not yet been named, said he was a ‘good’ and ‘happy’ young man. One said: “He was 100 percent a nice boy. He had been to university and was living with his family. What has happened and why he had been killed I don’t know. I am so shocked.”

Another said: “I knew his family for a long time. I didn’t know him well but I know he enjoyed going to the masjid (mosque). Whenever I saw him he was a happy boy. It’s very sad.”

Speaking this evening, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 3:40pm on Thursday (October 26), officers were conducting searches in the surrounding areas of Staycott Street in Manchester.

"Upon searching the area, officers discovered a bladed article, and a scene has
