BREAKING: Murder investigation launched as man in his 80s dies after 'disturbance' at house

A murder investigation has been launched after a man in his 80s died following a 'disturbance' at a house in Trafford on Sunday afternoon (July 9).

Emergency services were called to the incident, on Riddings Road in Timperley, at around 2.30pm to reports of a domestic disturbance. A man, aged in his 80s was found in a critical condition.

He was rushed to hospital from the scene where he died a short time later. A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is in custody for questioning.

Police swarmed the quiet residential street on Sunday afternoon, as horrified residents also reported seeing a number of ambulances arrive on blue lights.

A cordon was put in place and an evidence tent erected outside a house with officers and forensics remaining at the scene overnight as investigations continued.

One neighbour, who lives on Riddings Road, told the Manchester Evening News that the victim was a 'frail' man who was 'lovely' and had lived in the area for a number of years.

Greater Manchester Police have said they are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and that an investigation is still ongoing to determine the full circumstances.
