BREAKING: Motorway CLOSED due to ongoing police incident - live updates

The M60 has completely closed this evening due to an ongoing police incident. The clockwise carriageway is shut off at J22 for Failsworth currently.

Emergency services are understood to be at the scene of the incident with ambulance vehicles also seen on a bridge over the motorway this evening.

Traffic service Inrix has reported that drivers are being temporarily held due to a 'police incident'. The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed.

Highways North West have said the closure is currently on the clockwise carriageway in between J22 and J23. Diversions are in place.

National Highways says online: "The event is expected to clear between 22:00 and 22:15 on 22 August 2023."
