Live updates as major road in Cardiff shut after 'serious' incident

The A48 Cowbridge Road West in Cardiff has been closed on Monday evening following a crash. The road in the westbound direction was closed earlier but the eastbound carriageway remains shut at 9pm.

The crash happened after 7pm and South Wales Police issued a statement which said: "We are at the scene of a serious collision on Cowbridge Road West. The road is currently closed in both directions between the junction of Colin Way and the Junction of Grand Avenue. It is expected to remain closed for some time."

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Delays are expected in the area.
